Caineville October 2010

It's very hard to squeeze a 10 day trip into some kind of a report, but I have to start somewhere. The week before we made the journey down South, there had been heavy amounts of rain that caused large amounts of flooding. Luckily, the rain had stopped just in time for the roads to be repaired and re-opened and the soil to dry out..almost. Our normal access to our camping areas was blocked by over a foot of wet silty clay that had washed out of the hills. It was dark, and luckily I missed this road and drove into another or we may have been stuck in the goo before we even got our trailer off the highway. We eventually made our way to our planned spot, which happened to be one of the few dry areas, and began our trip. The riding was really unaffected however, so beyond the slight inconvenience of a mud hole here and there for a couple of days, the conditions were perfect.

The video above was shot from my helmet cam as I made a loop out of two of my favorite wash rides in the area. There was no connection of the two that could be seen, but I found a way to climb up and drop down a couple steeper sections to make it possible.

We met some new friends while we were there and shared in a trail adventure of sorts. This gap jump had played on my mind before, but I never did it until I was pushed a little. It's really just a matter of setting your mind to it and is not all that difficult, but it's a really sweet jump that flows with the trail. The rock positioned here couldn't be any better, nice ramp to get over the deep wash.

I have some video footage of this that I will post up later!

Some of the younger riders even got into it!

Stay tuned for more footage! Much more to come. We had such a great time hiking, biking, and hanging out. The weather really couldn't have been better, it was really a trip to be remembered.
