Caineville / Swing Arm City July 2009

Southern Utah in July is usually not considered a good combo, but we decided to throw caution into the wind and go to our favorite Utah desert location anyways. My wife had to work, so this was a boys only trip. We were prepared with many gallons of water, fuel for the generator to run the a/c, and whatever else we thought might make the trip more survivable. When we arrived Thursday evening around 5:00, the thermometer read 105 and it felt like it when we stepped out of the air conditioned truck into the heat. The good news is that it never got that warm again, and the evenings were beautiful. Cloud cover, breezy conditions and occasional light rain provided additional relief from the heat.
Not only is Swing Arm City obviously a great place to ride dirt bikes, but also a great place to have other sorts of fun too. We took advantage of the wide open space to build and fire a number of projectiles out of our combustion and air cannons including paper rockets and rubber tipped arrows. The boys also love to hike on the nearby hills and in the nearby canyons. With the exception of a few hours Saturday morning we had the whole place to ourselves the entire 3 days we were there. Keeping that in mind along with the lack of cell phone coverage and remoteness of the area, we were extra careful while we rode.

We did however still have a great time riding, and it truly was some great riding. To see all the pictures we took make sure you check out the slide show at the bottom of this post. I've added a view highlights here taken from my new GoPro Helmet cam. The great thing about Caineville is the variety of terrain, there is something here for most everyone.
