Bountiful Canyon Trail Ride

Bountiful Canyon is within minutes of my office building so occasionally I throw the dirt bike in the back of the truck and go on a short ride on my way home from work. Today turned out to be one of those days where I just needed a ride! I took the camera along and snapped a few pics along the way. There were these yellow signs all along much of the trail for some kind of a mountain bike race that is going on this Sunday. On my first ride up the lower portion of the trail I got about halfway and got some major arm pump. After resting a bit, I continued on toward the top along the canyon to find the road along the ridge line still closed to larger traffic for the winter. The main trail up consists of two parts connected by a small section of the canyon road. Unfortunately the upper section of trail was also closed for the winter to motorized traffic, so I returned to the bottom and explored the lower section some more. This trail system offers some great moderately technical riding. Most of the trail is double wide, or 4 wheeler width and twists through the trees with small bumps, rocks, stumps etc. just enough to make it fun! The upper portion of the trail tends to be a bit more difficult with a few tight silty climbs to negotiate. Putting the two trails together really makes for a fun ride. Here's a few pics from today's ride.

  3. It's rather cool that this is only minutes from your office. I need to work over there. I got like two toxic chemical depot sites near my office but it makes for less impressive views. The bugs are pretty big though (it must be the mercury in the water that gives them their incredible size)!
