Swingarm Linkage and Upper Shock Bearings, CR250

I am getting tired of bearings! I'm sure many of you are getting tired of reading about bearings, but..it has to be done. First get a socket to tap out the sleeve as shown below.

Next use an extension or a punch or something to tap the bearings out using a hammer. Tap the new bearings in with the plastic retainer to keep the bearings in place, then take the retainer out and pack the bearings with grease. Install the new sleeve and the seals. This bearing kit from pivot works requires the use of the old spacers.

The upper shock bearing is a uni-ball design. You must remove the circlip as shown to the left before removing the bearing. The bearing only comes out one way, so don't try pounding it out the other way. It comes out very easily once the circlip is removed. A spring that is ground to a point or something similar works very well for removing the circlip. Next install the new bearing and circlip.

Be careful of the way you put the seal in. It must be installed the way shown or dirt will be able to enter the bearing easily. This almost looks backwards compard to other seals. Having a new set of bearings should make the suspension work much better and the bike will track straighter. This was all done on a 2001 CR250 with pivot works bearings.

  1. Yeah, I only recently discovered Boxxy myself. Apparently she started a flame war on 4chan, which resulted in her accounts getting backed by 4chan types, who then threatened to ruin her if she ever made another video.
