Five Mile Pass Off Road Area Trip Report

Five Mile Pass is located 25 miles South West of Lehi, or about 8 miles South West of Cedar Fort traveling from the Salt Lake City area along UT-73. It's an excellent place to ride atv's, dirt bikes, rock crawlers, or any other off road vehicle. This time of year is especially good because of it's location being relatively low in elevation and a fairly dry climate. There is still spotty snow as you climb in elevation on the trails, but for the most part, the entire area is bone dry. I spotted a pretty cool Toyota rock crawler heading up to tackle Constrictor and/or Rattlesnake. Constrictor is a fairly hard-core rock trail. The last time I ran the trail in my buggy, it required a winch in one area, and I doubt it's changed too much since then. Rattlesnake trailhead is located at 40°15'43"N 112°12'26"W on the GPS and Constrictor is at 40°17'13"N 112°11'40"W, (further up the trail from Rattlesnake). The trails at Five Mile are on both sides of the highway, so be sure to ride around a bit to find the riding that suits you. The quarry use to be a fun place to ride around, but I noticed signs this time stopping anyone from riding on the hills around the quarry. The winds began to pick up early in the afternoon today, blowing massive amounts of dust way into the sky in some areas. As I was on my way back to the truck, I snapped a picture of the parking lot. I have seen it even busier, so it's definitely a popular area, but I was still able to find trails with little or no other traffic. There is a reason its' so popular. It's close, and there's a pretty wide variety of trails. Here's a few pictures from the day.
